Interior Style

For some strange reason I am really embracing the fall season this year, which I have never done before. I used to HATE fall with a passion, regardless of my birthday being in it (birthday parties were always inside due to the gross feeling of wet leaves, GROSS). I guess it's because I'm in Arizona and the weather has been pretty perfect for the past couple of weeks, but should really be colder. I am SO excited to wear sweaters and high socks and jackets and scarves and all that shit. But I'm trying to keep this geared towards interior design that reminds me of fall and how lovely it is to sit by a fire and read a book under a cute hand-knitted blanket. So when I get a house and the freedom to do whatever I want, I hope they look a little something like this...

WTWTA x Opening Ceremony

So I saw these (snuggie's-look-a-like? I don't even know) a while ago on Opening Ceremony's website (Where The Wild Things Are x Opening Ceremony) and thought Aw that's nice, but no one would spend $610 for one suit that could never be worn except for maybe during sleepovers or the premier of Where The Wild Things Are but that's about it. Well, I'm clearly wrong in that assumption considering 90 of them were sold within the first hour of going on sale AND they are now sold out on the website (in case you were in dire need of one). So Joe, that answers your question; people actually WOULD buy this.

Julian Casablancas - 11th Dimension

Alright so I'm a little baby when it comes to taking risks in fashion, mainly due to lack of (big number of $$s here) salary. SO UNFORTUNATE, by the way, because I'm dying to go to some extravagant costume gala and stand next to celebrities and say, pssh these pathetic fashion bloggers putting up the pictures of me in this ridiculous outfit that could logically only be worn to this extravagant costume gala that I am so fortunate (yawn) to be standing next to you in. It takes the wind out of you at first, ya know, saying all that through, but man could I get used to it. Anyway, I like simplicity in fashion and think guady things are...pointless. And guady-y. Which is fine if you're like, a queen your royal heinness majesty. Anyway, the point is, even though I like too keep the volume to a minimum, these Alexander McQueen shoes, if they could even be called that (they should really have their own category) are just too creative and out of this world to hate. It's just one of those things that you clearly will never wrap your head around and instead of looking away and accepting it, you need to keep staring. One of those things that keep you up at night wondering, but whaaa? But how? But WHEN ON EARTH can I wear those? And most of these questions go unanswered until ya fall asleep, but it doesn't make you appreciate them any less. Maybe even more so.

These are my FAVES:

I'll seriously try my best to put up the pictures from PFW (mainly for myself since I doubt my blog gets much publicity) but until then, I hope everyone is enjoying their first week of octubre!

Phoenix Fashion Week

So right now I'm in a hotel room with my mom just hanging around. I should be doing homework but my mind is too consumed with clothing at the moment. Allow me to update:
Thursday was the opening night of Phoenix Fashion Week, who I've been working with for the past two weeks. The theme was Fashionably Pink. Each designer created one look that was auctioned off with all the proceeds going to Susan G. Komen. I'm really happy about that. Speaking of, pretty soon I plan on getting work done to see whether or not I have the breast cancer gene. It's pretty scary, but I don't want to pretend like I'm magically not going to be affected by it. Renee doesn't have it, which is good, but that means it's more likely that I do, which is not good. Anyway, that's for a different post. I worked as a dresser backstage and got to work with designers like Jazmin Whitley of Li Cari (who is apparently the star of House of Jazmin on MTV) and Qristyl Frazier of Project Runway (Season 6 a.k.a. now). After runway 1 I went to runway 2 at Suede Lounge and had a lot more say and intimacy, I guess, with the designers since it was a smaller show. You should definitely check out encolor. Their last look was this fantastic kimono and the heels were kickass.

Friday was incredibly hectic. I was assigned three models. One wasn't really around, she had two outfit changes. The other was so sweet, she had 3 changes but they were all fairly far apart so it wasn't crazy. My third girl, on the other hand, was in 7 shows and walked twice in 3 of them, so 10 outfit changes. I don't think I can dress myself as fast as I dressed her. We had jean malfunctions, a skirt went MIA and changes from wedges to vans to stilettos to running sneakers. As crazy as it was, it was so much fun! Check out J.Garten shoes, Peter Kent handbags, Kiss the Girl, and Timothy Maurice (I was fond of my model's white one piece bathing suit). Privacy had some pretty nice jeans and t-shirts, too. Even though this night was way more intense than Thursday, I still found time to stand on the side to watch. My mom was in charge of the camera. She got some good pictures but most models are either cut out of the frame or people are in the way of the shot. I'll try to remember to upload pictures but it seems like I always forget when I say that.

Saturday isn't over yet. I was there at 8 this morning but not much needed to be done. The Style Villa was cool, but a bit disorganized. I would have liked to sit in on the Education Seminar instead. One of the girls working with me has an extra All Access VIP ticket so I'm going to join her tonight. I can actually take pictures so hopefully I'll get some good ones!
