Fleetwood Mac - Gold Dust Woman

I just had a random thought. I want to buy a cruiser when I come home this summer. Or a normal board with super fat wheels. Yes, that is what I'm going to do. And I'm gonna go all around with Joseph. Not sure where our destination will be, but I'll only use it for destination-getting-to purposes. Yes, yes, yes.

I have a lot of homework so I'll save the 'E' for next post!

Fleetwood Mac - You Make Loving Fun

Last post was my 100th, so I guess that's cool. This is probably the longest online journal I've kept. Oh! And today is Earth Day! It should be everyday but hey, I'll take it. I'll also gladly take that reusable cloth bag from the market I got for free for spending over $10! That made me happy. I wanted to write this really long post but now I'm not quite sure why, or rather what I wanted to say. Okkervil River is playing on the lawn literally right outside my door on Friday so I'm pretty freakin' excited for that. Okay, whatever, it's getting late. Let's get to the chase.

What do you love that starts with 'D'?
I love my Dad, my dog, and Death Cab For Cutie. Obviously, I love my Dad, as everyone else does, so cliche, blah blah blah. I won't go into detail but I'm really happy he's my dad.

I love my dog! Tess is amazing and always greets me in such a fun, loving way whenever I go to Tucson, and she always knows when something is wrong. She knows when to be playful and quiet and I hope she sticks around long enough so I can bring her back to NJ/NY after graduation!

Here's a mixture of my dog and my dad:

Death Cab For Cutie. I don't know the exact year I started listening to them but the first song I ever heard was 'Blacking Out the Friction' thanks to a mix CD Joe made me. Then I saw my friend Dante with their CD Transatlanticism and the album cover pulled me in. I've seen them at the little theater in Madison Square Garden (Joseph and I held hands under the seat for 'I Will Follow You Into the Dark'), in Brooklyn (at a public pool that was drained along with the SICKEST storm I've ever been caught in...like the wind was making the equipment rock back and forth, the darkest storm clouds were rolling in, and they were playing 'I Will Possess Your Heart' and if you know that intro, you KNOW shit was amazing. Everyone was going nuts in a good way and then once DCFC said peace, it was going nuts in a bad way. The cafe was oh so sweet afterward), and in Tucson (which was in a gymnasium-type room so sound quality sucked by Cold War Kids were pretty good).

Until next time, haterz.

Eric Hutchinson - Rock and Roll

Saw Justin Kredible on my campus tonight with Kristin. It was so great, I might have been laughing more this time than when he hosted/opened up for Jason Mraz. I'd love to type everything out so I can remember just how great it was, but I'm tired and need to continue my little pattern I got going on. But know that it was so funny, he's so attractive, and I was so excited to have him sign a second poster for me!

What do you love that starts with 'C'?
I love Cirque du Soleil. I love that it translates to "circus of the sun". I love the music, costume, make-up, settings, story-line, everything! These people are so talented. In the back of every program they show a portrait of each character normally and a portrait of them in full costume. I secretly look in the back with a predetermined idea that it will always be an all-Chinese cast, and secretly get happy when I see someone from the United States in there. The shows are always unbelievable and after seeing my first show I wanted to it for a living; my mother signed me up for gymnastics after that. Oh well! Here are the ones I've seen thus far:

Varekai. I only remember a few things from this one, I think I was young:

Mystere. This one had tiny pictures that just didn't want to get bigger, so here's the trailer, which is much better than the pictures:

O. This was my ultimate favourite! I was so sure they were going to bore me with water, but wow did they prove me wrong. It was fucking amazing and I hope I can one day see it again!

Ka. So we're sitting in orchestra seats and it begins. It was my fourth show, second being seen in Las Vegas, first time I was disappointed - not because of the show, but because after about 5 minutes in, there's a half hour delay due to 'technical difficulties'. Such shit!! They gave us tickets to see Blue Man Group instead, which was really good, but can never even compare. I was so upset, I couldn't believe it. Now I really would go see this if I had the money, no doubt.

Alegria: This one was my first and I was SO young, but I remember a lot, especially the song you'll hear in the video. It still gets stuck in my head today and I listen to it on my handy dandy cassette tape. Anyway, this show got me hooked and it wasn't until I saw it on Discovery Channel a few years after that I realized it wasn't some cool circus that only I knew about (wahh!):

M. Ward - For Beginners (AKA Mt. Zion)

What do you love that starts with 'B'?
I love books. I love books probably more than I love reading books. I think it was freshman year english class when we were asked our favourite smell and sound. Beth Tippenreiter said her favourite smell was old pages in books and favourite sound was pages being flipped through in books (like letting the pages slide under your thumb from cover to cover). I, thinking I was cool, thought this was ridiculous. If only she could see me now. I plan on either having a great bookcase act as my headboard on my bed or dedicating a wall in my house to be considered my library, granted I will never actually want to call it that. Sounds to prissy and upper class, two of which I am not. I wish I had more time to read. I hate that it should be a first priority but I always seem to push it back before anything else in my daily schedule. Anyway, here are some of my favourites:

The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. I read this book twice and will probably end up doing so again. There's just so much to it that I still haven't completely wrapped my mind around it. I love reading the beginning, as I'm sure every other lover of this book does. I really like that there is not much written by him. My Dad gave me Nine Stories recently. I should read one tonight...

Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut. Gotta thank Joey for this one. I don't think I would have ever read it if he didn't like it so much. I should probably read this one again too. It was the first book I read while in college, and I really loved sitting up in bed every night reading a few chapters so quickly. The few pictures are great. I thought of getting "Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt" tattooed on my foot for a while but decided not to after I found someone in my school wanted it on their arm (even though he is a really awesome guy, I hope he gets it!).

On The Road by Jack Kerouac. Reading this book made me feel closer to my dad and his sister. Sal standing in the rain in the beginning of his journey reminds me of the story my dad tells when he brings my Aunt Debbie to the bus station on her 18th birthday. Sometimes I wish I could be like them, pack up my things and go without any rules or itinerary.

Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer. I really don't need to stress how influential, moving, uplifting, devastating, etc. this book makes me feel. Everyone should know this by now. The best feature this book offers is the many quotes he provides at the beginning of every chapter. My favourite quote in this book is one by Wallace Stegner, "It should not be denied that being footloose has always exhilarated us. It is associated in our minds with escape from history and oppression and law and irksome obligations, with absolute freedom, and the road has always led west."

Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. I included this, even though I haven't finished it, because it represents the author, whom I believe to be the best. I started reading Russian literature because of Mrs. Szubiak, believe it or not. We had to do a skit and the story our group chose to do was The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov. Well ever since I've been hooked (especially since Alexander Supertramp loved him as well). I love the way they tie everything in the story together, usually at the end. It makes the reading interesting and gets you excited to finish. Other good books/short stories by Tolstoy include The Death of Ivan Ilych, The Kreutzer Sonota, and my ultimate favourite, Family Happiness.

Stevie Wonder - I Just Called To Say I Love You

It was only when my Dad called me tonight that I remembered I got that rejection e-mail from Nanette Lepore saying they already have enough interns. I'm glad I was at least able to get my mind off of it for as long as I did. I was told that things can change, though, and she will keep updating me. My Mom, Dad and Joe all say to try other places but I have no connections with other places and if they already have enough interns, then everywhere does.

I was thinking about doing this the other night, but never got around to it. The reason I am now is because I saw Mrs. Totten's status on facebook and it said, "What do you love that starts with 'A'?" and I thought it was crazy that I was thinking the same thing (so now I have to do it!).

What do you love that starts with 'A'?
I love apples. I don't know why but it's really the only fruit that I have consistently liked. Watermelon and cantaloupes were just phases, but apples are forever. Also, they took on a strange symbol between Joseph and I. I guess it started when we drove across the country together? Maybe? Anyway, I love them and it's definitely not the most meaningful or throught out thing I could come up with for the letter A, but they definitely make me happy with life whenever I have one.

The Cranberries - Linger

Ooh ooh ooh! Someone buy me all these lovely items:

Rilo Kiley - With Arms Outstretched

How I am on a good day, minus the pool, the wonderful selection of designer shoes, and The Row collection in its entirety.

I'm so excited to start a fashion blog! I feel like it will really open my eyes to so much more than I'm already exposed to. I'm already learning so much just from one website, it's almost hard to keep up. I should start writing things down. Actually, I'll get a notebook dedicated to all things I find interesting fashion-wise. If I can't major in it, I might as well study the shit out of it myself. Goodnight world.

Belle and Sebastian - Get Me Away, I'm Dying

I sent Lauren (the lady, you know?) my resume for the internship at Nanette Lepore. Wish me luck. I'm hoping I won't need it since she made it sounds set in stone already. I've been doing a lot of fashion blogging lately and decided I will make one. In like a month. I want to wait until I'm done with this semester because if I start it before then I will most definitely lose sight of my grades, which I kind of already have. I got an 83 on my statistics class, and I honestly can't talk about it any more than that. I'm so disappointed in myself. Anyway, I decided I need to carry my camera with me literally everywhere. It should be my new purse actually. So I fear that if I do start this fashion blog, I will not post in here as often. I'll try to not let that be. I've been getting much closer with three mentionables as of late: Kristin, Emma and Stephanie. Kristin, duh, ex-suitemate and such a down-to-earth girl. Emma, was in my English class and just happens to be the most kick ass girl on campus. The inside of the lip tattoo of an alien spaceship speaks for itself there. Stephanie, such a sweetheart. She's in my stats class and psychology lab. She is so honest in a funny way (one of the first times we hung out she told me about how she really needed to poop because her roommate's boyfriend was staying the week and she hadn't pooped in three days). Everyone is complaining about schoolwork these past two weeks. I haven't had much of anything due so I'm just coasting along while I have the time, which translates into tanning by the pool and thrift store shopping, aka thrifting for all you hipsters. I was going to go to the pool tomorrow to tan my backside but I think I'll save that for Thursday and instead hit up Buffalo Exchange, Clothing Exchange, Goodwill and Arizona Outlet Mall. I don't have much money, but I don't have much care for that anyhow.

I'm really late, but here are my favourites from Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring '09 RTW

Also, I can't get "Thank You" by Alanis Morrisette out of my fucking head.

Fleet Foxes - Heard Them Stirring

Guys wear funny-looking hats in order to draw eyes away from their broken pants zipper.

-Anatomy of a Hipster #49.

Broken Social Scene - Anthems From A Seventeen-Year-Old Girl

Some vertical pictures that Joey took (the last one was my idea!):

Oh my! I wanted to go to sleep early tonight, like 11, so I could wake up early tomorrow and lay out by the pool before I get lunch with Kristin. Her phone got some water damage causing her R and E button to break so whenever she texts me "it I23s3mbl3s this"...quite confusing. I got dinner with my friend Emma, and her friend Sarah, who invited her friend Shawna. All very nice. Why couldn't I find these people sooner?

I downloaded Vuze. I'm sure that's nothing exciting but for someone who could only listen to music through her car radio and the 30 second intervals they share on iTunes, I'm pretty damn excited. So far I've downloaded "Seven Swans" by Sufjan Stevens, "You Forgot It In People" by Broken Social Scene, "It's Blitz" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, "Out Of The Shadow" by Rogue Wave, "Paper Trail" by T.I., "Friend" by Grizzly Bear, "In Rainbows" by Radiohead, and "Sun Giant" by Fleet Foxes. I still need to download goodies by Okkervil River and Akron/Family. I feel like I would appreciate more of them.

I read so many entries of Girl of the Week on teenvogue.com. Some girls really confuse me, while others entertain, while others just simply bother me. The people at TV must have been on a blogger kick when they chose these girls, because every single one put an effort to bring up their blog somewhere and include the link. So of course, I thought it was annoying, but I looked at almost all of them. One I particularly like for the pictures and the ideas I get from her. She's 14 and has already been featured in two magazines and about three fashion websites. You see what I mean by annoying now? Another one I love because she's fabulous, but she tries too hard sometimes. She reins from Washington DC and basically posts her outfit from day to day and the local thrift stores. She's azn, she's got a very chic haircut and a beautiful array of pieces. The others were nice, but that's about it.

I wish Arizona State wasn't so much like high school. And wasn't so fucking hot. I'd really love to go to a small indie school (okay, I know there's no such thing as 'indie' school, but I want to be east coast and at a small but really great school academics-wise. Alicia, bring me to your people!) and wear random things and not feel like the frat boys and "sisters" will stare and talk. They will. I hate this school. I come to a state where you can see the sky for a hundred miles and I feel like I need to get to NY soon just to feel like I can breath again.

I love my boyfriend, no matter what. I can't wait to spend time with him in New Yorkkk and take pictures and laugh. God, I miss laughing. I need to take pictures myself. And just do something crazy, or creative. Creative works.
